A350 XWB Final Assembly Line inaguration ceremony

The inauguration of the A350 XWB Final Assembly Line has been an event that:

Occurred 40 years after the maiden flight of its game-changing A300.
Brought special recognition to one of the Airbus founders and visionary Mr. Roger Béteille, who has  placed the spotlight back on Airbus employees, thanking them for continuing his work in bringing the company to the leadership position it holds today. “You were able to reach the target which, in my youth, was totally impossible to even dream of,” Béteille said.  By working hard together, hand-in-hand…you reached this incredible target of establishing Europe as the largest and best airliner manufacturer in the world, and I thank you for that.”

Held inside this purpose-built L-shaped facility next to Toulouse-Blagnac Airport in France.
Marked a new industrial milestone in the A350 XWB program.
Was attended by more than 1,000 representatives from customers, suppliers and partners, along with elected officials and other invitees – who were joined by an equal number of Airbus employees, many waving A350 XWB flags.
Put the company on track to becoming a world-leading commercial airliner manufacturer.

Airbus Chief Operating Officer Günter Butschek said final assembly of a third A350 XWB is to begin before year-end, with the program’s production rate ramping up to a targeted 10 aircraft per month by late 2018.  “Our message is that the program is on plan and the upcoming major milestones will be on plan, too.”
Airbus President and CEO Fabrice Brégier said  “I thank everyone in the teams for such great work, as they are not just building the A350; they are building the future of Airbus.”
