Although flights to Shanghai with A350 will start on 21/November as announced before, Finnair has been forced to adjust the schedule for starting A350 flights to Bangkok and to Beijing.

The reason? Delays in the expected delivery schedules of Finnair's first few A350 aircraft, i.e. the 2nd, 3rd and 4th aircraft.

As the MSN19 will be delivered in late-November and MSN20 & MSN22 will be delivered to Finnair in late-December and January (instead of previously planned late-November and December), Finnair has adjusted A350 flights to Bangkok start on 24/December, instead of the earlier announced 4/December.

In the same way, A350 flights to Beijing will start on 6/January, instead of the earlier announced 4/December.

Until these dates, these destinations are served with Airbus A330 aircraft and A340 aircraft.

  3. Airbus A350 deliveries to Finnair trailing behind schedule

Nov 10, 2015 (newstodate): Airbus is running behind schedule in A350 aircraft deliveries to Finnair, its first European operator of this type.

The airline now confirms that it expects to have five Airbus A350 aircraft in the fleet by Q2, 2016.

Until now, the message has been that the first four aircraft would have been delivered before the end of 2015, with another seven slated for delivery in 2016 and 2017.

Due to the delays in delivery scheme, Finnair has had to postpone the launch of A350 flights on the route from Helsinki to Bangkok to December 24, 2015, against earlier December 4, 2015, and the introduction of the A350 on the route from Helsinki to Beijing is now rescheduled for January 6, 2016, against earlier December 4, 2015.

Finnair will thus only be able to introduce its single A350 aircraft delivered on October 7, 2015, on the route from Helsinki to Shanghai starting from November 21, 2015, as planned.

According to the A350 routes scheme earlier announced, Finnair is also to introduce the aircraft on flights to Hong Kong from February 1, 2016, and to Singapore from March 28, 2016, but this may also be up for change.

  4. .This only reinforces Mr.Clarks statement at Dubai, not good, not good at all. Does not bode well for 2016.

  5. cont.
Wonder how much Airbus had to recompense Finnair? First it was delays with Qatar's aircraft(which all thought maybe Qatar was being a bit fastidious-well I did) now its Finnair. Trouble is, this will roll on down the production line and affect all the others. I dont believe, in a million years that Airbus can catch up. So every other airline now faces delays of a month or more to their original delivery dates and soon they will break up for christmas and new year. I really thought that with the 24 already in the production line for the next 6 months of 2016 that Airbus was going for it, sadly I've changed my mind. This is not good at all.

    1. IMHo you should put your "Casandra" carnival outfit back up in the attic.

Qatar appears to have mostly buyer funished equipment issues.
I'd not be surprised if the other delays go in the same general direction.
Seating manufacturers really seem "under water".

    2. Again, we are still speculating of what the problem is. Neither the airlines nor the Airbus nor the interior manufacturers have said anything, AFAIK.
